LeeAnn Womack – Back from Time Off

Posted on 24 March 2009 by admin

Leeann WomackMCA recording artist, Lee Ann Womack, took three years in between her CMA award winning There’s More Where That Came From and her most recent release, Call Me Crazy, to spend more time with her family.   But she never took music off her mind completely – she still spent a lot of time writing songs and thinking about what would work for her newest album.

Lee Ann loves the business too much to leave it, but enjoyed her time off and is happier than ever: “Taking that time off definitely changed me, and yes I was consumed with the business. I love this business; I have a passion for this business. I grew up in East Texas and my dad worked at the country music station.   He was a disc jockey, on-air personality at the station. I left there and came to Nashville, went to college here and studied the music business and interned at a record label.   I have been consumed with this business since I was a little girl. I was fascinated by the records that my dad had. I would listen to them, I would read the backs of them to see who managed them, who booked them, who produced the record, who all played on it, who sang background, who wrote the songs; that’s all I did when I was a kid. So, naturally, once I got my record deal I was consumed by that too.

I really think that taking the time off has enabled me to come back with a different perspective. I’m happier than I’ve ever been. I’m enjoying work more than I ever have.”
