KENNY GOES COASTAL ON TOUR AGAIN FOR 2011

Posted on 22 March 2011 by editor

Kenny Chesney’s “Gone Coastal!” After months of planning, preparation and anticipation, Corona Presents Kenny Chesney’s “Goin’ Coastal” Tour sailed into sunny Florida where the fans had been waiting a long time for a party that only Kenny Chesney can throw!

The tour opened on Thursday night in West Palm Beach, and The Palm Beach Post heralded Chesney’s performance as “Flawless,” and added, “Chesney holds thousands of fans in his spell. Everyone is absolutely focused on him for two solid hours of on-your-feet time.”

The show also included Chesney’s friend and duet partner Uncle Kracker on the #1 song, “When the Sun Goes Down” and singer Billy Currington who is enjoying his 4th consecutive # 1 single. Chesney also welcomed to the stage special guest reggae singer Mishka for Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds.”

The party in West Palm Beach also included friends of Chesney’s such as football legend Joe Namath, Jason Witten of the Dallas Cowboys, Mike Vrabel of the Kansas City Chiefs, Wes Welker and Matt Light of the New England Patriots and Steve Hutchinson of the Minnesota Vikings.

Chesney Live 2011

Saturday marked the first of 11 stadium shows when the tour cruised into Tampa Bay’s Raymond James Stadium. By 2:00 pm the parking lots around the stadium were overflowing with tailgaters partying to Chesney’s music, grilling and warming up to welcome Chesney back to the stadium where he hadn’t played since 2006.

When Chesney took the stage on Saturday night, the sold-out crowd of 50,548 went coastal! The two-plus hour set included many of his 21 #1 hits, from “How Forever Feels” (1999) to his latest #1 song, “Somewhere with You,” plus album cuts and classic songs. He also welcomed some special musical guests to join him, including a 30-minute jam with Zac Brown Band. In describing the Tampa concert, Sean Daly at the St. Petersburg Times wrote: “man, oh, man, did we need a day like this one and a concert like that one” while drawing comparisons between Chesney’s band, AC/DC, Alan Jackson, and U2.

The atmosphere was lively backstage, too, with lots of family and friends. Also on hand were New York Yankees Nick Swisher, Super Bowl winning and Monday Night Football commentator Jon Gruden, Philadelphia Phillies players Cliff Lee, Roy Halladay, Roy Oswalt and Chase Utley, and former player John Smoltz.

The tour now sets the compass north for next weekend’s shows in Des Moines, IA (3/24); St. Paul, MN (3/25); and Omaha, NE (3/26). Chesney’s current album, Hemingway’s Whiskey, is nominated as Album of the Year from the Academy of Country Music, and it includes the current song, “Live a Little,” and the #1 singles “The Boys of Fall” and “Somewhere with You.”

Paisley

CMA Entertainer of the Year Brad Paisley announced his 2011 tour, H2O II World Tour presented by Chevy. The first date of the tour will be May 28 at Heinz Field, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers.  The 33 city tour includes five stadiums and an international trek that includes London’s O2 Arena, Dublin, Stockholm, Oslo and more.  Special guests on the tour will be Blake Shelton and Jerrod Niemann.

H2O II World Tour will bring back the very popular and fan favorite “Water World Plaza,” turning every city into a water festival.  Focal point in the Plaza area will be the “Water World Plaza Stage” featuring emerging new stars Brent Anderson, Edens Edge and Sunny Sweeney.  The tour extravaganza will open each day at 4:00pm with music starting at 5:00pm.  In addition to the music stage there will be multiple water-themed activities – including a Chevy H2O FLW fishing simulator, dunking booth, slip n slide, and other various water games.

Chevy will be providing a Corvette driving simulator for concert goers to test the latest Corvette ZR1 series as well as their individual driving and racing skills against Paisley himself.  The fan having the highest score each day will meet Paisley later in the evening.

Reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year and Grand Ole Opry member Brad Paisley is a consummate singer, songwriter, guitarist and entertainer, which has earned him three GRAMMY’s, 14 Country Music Association Awards and 13 Academy of Country Music Awards.  He has 18 #1 singles with the last 14 consecutive.  Paisley has released nine critically acclaimed studio albums, the most recent Hits Alive which is a two disc release of original studio hits as well as live performances from concerts.   Paisley’s innovative and entertaining H20 World Tour played to over 879,000 fans in 2010 and placed #1 country tour for attendance by Pollstar.  Paisley’s current single “This Is Country Music” is the title track from his next album which will be in-stores May 24.

About Blake Shelton:

CMA Male Vocalist of the Year and one of the “most versatile of contemporary country singers” (The New York Times), proves he is a force to be reckoned with as he’s set to co-host the 46th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards this April with Reba. In just 10 months, Blake has won six awards, has had three consecutive No. 1’s (“Who Are You When I’m Not Looking,” “All About Tonight” and “Hillbilly Bone”), sold out shows on his first ever headlining tour: “All About Tonight Tour,” his first No. 1 album with All About Tonight, his first GRAMMY nomination, his first ACM Award nomination for “Top Male Vocalist of the Year” and a chart-topping greatest hits CD, LOADED: The Best of Blake Shelton. The release catapults Shelton into an elite group of artists who have charted three records in one year (among those are Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney and Alan Jackson). Shelton’s eight No. 1 hits are “Who Are You When I’m Not Looking,” “It’s All About Tonight,” “Hillbilly Bone,” “She Wouldn’t Be Gone,” “Home,” “Some Beach,” “The Baby” and “Austin.” Shelton has not had a single peak outside the Top Ten since 2007.

About Jerrod Niemann:

Sea Gayle/Arista Nashville recording artist Jerrod Niemann is on the radio now with “What Do You Want,” the hit follow-up to his #1 smash and RIAA-certified Gold Digital Single, “Lover, Lover.”  Niemann co-produced and was a writer on 10 of the 12 songs on his acclaimed album,Judge Jerrod & The Hung Jury, one of The New York Times’ Top 10 Albums of 2010.  Upon release, the album debuted at #1 onBillboard’s Top Country Albums sales chart and remained the only major label debut to hit #1 on the chart all year.  Niemann’s multiple award nominations in 2010 included his first CMA Award nomination as New Artist of the Year.  www.jerrodniemannofficial.com

About Brent Anderson:

Newcomer Brent Anderson is a Pascagoula, Mississippi native and a fresh voice on the national music scene.  At age 13, Anderson was fronting his own band, and by age 16, his gift for songwriting caught the ear of Nashville, earning him his first publishing deal in 2005.  Now a songwriter for Sea Gayle Music, Anderson is currently working on his debut album with noted producer Frank Rogers.

About Edens Edge:

Comprised of Hannah Blaylock (lead vocalist), Dean Berner (harmony vocals, guitar, dobro) and Cherrill Green (harmony vocals, mandolin, banjo, and guitar), Edens Edge composes a unique musical blend deeply rooted in Country and Bluegrass.  Growing up about an hour from each other in Arkansas the members of Edens Edge never met until they were introduced through mutual friends in college.  After entering the CMT/NSAI Songwriters Contest in 2006, the band was discovered by Kye Fleming who helped further develop the group’s writing and artistic talents.  In recent months the trio has opened for such Country stars as Lady Antebellum, Gloriana, Lonestar and Ronnie Milsap.  Recently profiled as one of Billboard’s “Artists to Watch in 2011” the trio’s debut single on Big Machine Records, “Amen,” will be at Country Radio on March 28th.

About Sunny Sweeney:

Hailing from East Texas, Sunny Sweeney is a singer/songwriter with musical instincts that are stone-cold country. She is a Top 10 Female Country Artist of 2010 with the highest charting debut single of a female country artist in the last four years. Her lead single, “From A Table Away,” is a Top 15 hit on the Country Charts and rising. Sunny co-wrote all of the songs on her current EP and a full album is slated for release later this year. Though relatively new to the scene, she has already been featured in Country Weekly, AOL’s The Boot, Last.fm, Arizona Daily Star, Country Aircheck and MusicRow as well as on WGN-TV, CMT and GAC. Sunny has also landed on multiple “Ones to Watch in 2011” lists, including MSN and AOL. She is a favorite guest of the Grand Ole Opry, playing more than 20 times since her debut in 2007, and has warmed up the stage for County Music icons Loretta Lynn and Hank Williams, Jr. Recently she lent her voice to The Music Inside: A Collaboration Dedicated to Waylon Jennings, dueting with another idol, Jessi Colter, on ”Good Hearted Woman.”

Bentley is currently in Nashville working on material for his next album. Fans can expect the first single this spring and will be able to get glimpses of the recording process along the way through dierks.com. The new album will follow in the footsteps of Bentley’s artistically daring and critically acclaimed

UP ON THE RIDGE, which recently received three GRAMMY nominations. The Phoenix-native has won countless awards, headlined arena tours, sold over five million albums, and celebrated seven No. one hits (“What Was I Thinkin,” “Come A Little Closer,” “Settle For A Slowdown,” “Every Mile A Memory,” “Free and Easy (Down The Road I Go),” “Feel That Fire,” “Sideways”) since being signed to Capitol Records Nashville.

Columbia Nashville recording artist Josh Thompson stormed onto the country music scene with his debut album WAY OUT HERE – debuting in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums Chart and earning praise from countless critics, including NPR’s Fresh Air, Billboard and People. Thompson wrote or co-wrote all 10 tracks on the album including his current single, “Won’t Be Lonely Long,” which follows previous hits “Way Out Here” and “Beer On The Table.” The blue-collar road warrior played over 240 shows last year ranging from headlining club dates to sold-out arenas with Brad Paisley.

A&M/Octone’s first country release is the vibrant new female duo Miss Willie Brown, comprised of Amanda Watkins from West Virginia and Texas native Kasey Buckley. The two girls met in California waiting tables, instantly bonded over a deep love of country music and have been writing and singing together ever since. Now living in Nashville, the duo is recording their debut album with award winning producer Keith Stegall (Zac Brown Band, Alan Jackson) and will release the lead single in the coming months. Miss Willie Brown has been busy honing their live performance chops opening shows for artists including Dwight Yoakam and Billy Currington. They are also the only unsigned band to ever perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Jason Aldean

Jason Aldean / Wikipedia

Just eleven weeks after its release, Billboard’s 2010 Top Male Country Artist Jason Aldean is celebrating PLATINUM certification for sales of one million copies for his fourth studio album MY KINDA PARTY. The 15 track disc becomes Aldean’s third career PLATINUM album and brings the country rocker to five million total albums sold since his debut five years ago.

“I just can’t say enough about country music fans and the amount of loyalty they have for their favorite artists,” said Aldean. “To think that a million people already bought this record is hard for me to get my head around. And five million since I started? No way! I am so grateful to them for giving me the opportunity to play music every night.”

MY KINDA PARTY opened big in Nov. with an impressive first week moving over 193,000 units and earning the biggest first week debut by a male vocalist in over three years. The album’s lead and title track recently earned GOLD certification for digital downloads and took the No. one spot on Mediabase’s country chart. Aldean’s powerful duet with Kelly Clarkson “Don’t You Wanna Stay” follows closely behind, jumping into the Top 15 this week. Both singles also remain in the Top 10 on iTunes’ Country Songs Chart.

Aldean will kick off the sold out first weekend of arena dates on his MY KINDA PARTY TOUR this Friday in Little Rock, AR. The 30 city run through May features special guests Eric Church and the Jane Dear Girls.

Garth

Garth Brooks has been playing Nashville lately… but the run is over.   It was a short series of flood relief shows that broke ticket records and raised millions.   In fact, during the press conferences for the shows Brooks alluded to staging a larger comback in, say, 2015 when his daughters are grown.   It’s not too far away to plan.   But until then you’ll have to be satisfied with this string of additional Vegas shows.  Enjoy.

Here’s the scoop from the official press release:

About Garth Brooks
Certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) as the #1-selling solo artist in U.S. history, Garth Brooks has sold in excess of 128 million albums. He has received every accolade the recording industry can bestow on an artist.

In the midst of one of the most successful careers in music history, Garth retired in 2001, delivered his last record for Capitol Records and moved back to Oklahoma to raise his children. While in retirement, when called upon by events greater than his own self-interest, he returned to the stage. The President himself requested that Garth headline President Obama’s Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial. He performed as Barack and Michelle Obama, their girls, Joe and Jill Biden and a crowd of over 300,000 lined the mall from the Lincoln Memorial all the way to the Washington Monument. It was a moment in history when all did the “wave” to Garth’s performance of “Shout” while the President sang along. When the governor of California asked for Garth’s help, he responded by performing five concerts in two days, where proceeds from 83,000 tickets sold were donated to efforts to prevent fire catastrophes. Portions of the live concerts were shown as a TV special, “Garth Brooks: Live in L.A.” where viewers donated to the organization Fire. He recently finished an astonishing 9 concerts to raise money for the flood relief efforts in Tennessee. ABC World News Tonight declared Garth The Person of the Week and the Mayor of Nashville came on stage during his last performance to announce that this was a record December for downtown Nashville merchants due to the over 145,000 who attended the concerts.
