Sugarland’s Nettles gets Married

Jennifer Nettles had a lot to be thankful for this holiday season.

The Sugarland singer, 37, quietly tied the knot Saturday in a small, sunset ceremony in Tennessee.

Wearing an Alexander McQueen gown, Nettles married entrepreneur Justin Miller at a chapel nestled in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains in front of an intimate group of close family and friends, including bandmate Kristian Bush.

Miller is a former model who’s been dating Nettles for more than two years. He appeared in the video for the band’s 2006 single, “Want To,” and accompanied the singer to the CMA Awards on Nov. 9, where Sugarland took home the award for vocal duo of the year.

But the honeymoon may have to wait, since Nettles is performing Wednesday with Lady Gaga at the Grammy Nomination Concert Live, and hosting the annual CMA Country Christmas special, airing Thursday on ABC at 9 p.m. ET.

Brothers Sun Dates Concert

Chesney / McGraw

Just announced:  Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw will team up for the musical event of 2012, the ‘Brothers of
the Sun’ Tour.

The 19-date stadium tour finds Chesney, who consistently has crowds “eating up his every word and move,” joined by  McGraw for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
“Tim and I have been great friends since we first toured together, and I can’t wait to get
back on the road with him,” Chesney said. “He’s one of my closest friends in music and in life, and I know this tour is going to be something special.”
“Our friendship was forged on the road, so it‟s going to be a blast heading out with Kenny
again,” sez Tim. “We‟ll be having as much fun on stage as the fans will be having in
the audience.”
‘Brothers of the Sun’ will be the first time in 10 years that Chesney and McGraw have hit the
road together. The reunion will kick off June 2 in Tampa, FL and will feature stadium shows
on weekend dates at venues across the country, including Charlotte‟s Bank of America
Stadium, Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field, Dallas’ Cowboys Stadium, Detroit’s Ford
Field, and New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium. ‘Brothers of the Sun’ will also feature special
guests Grace Potter & The Nocturnals and Jake Owen.
The announcement after Chesney’s massively successful ‘Goin’ Coastal’
Tour, which blew away more than 1.3 million fans, making it the year’s biggest country
tour. A four-time CMA Entertainer of the Year winner, Chesney will be honored at CMT‟s
Artists of the Year event on December 13. “Reality,” Chesney’s fifth single from 2010‟s
„Hemingway‟s Whiskey,’ was shipped to radio in October.
McGraw is a three-time GRAMMY winner who has had #1 singles in each of the last three
decades – 32 in total – including the title track of his most recent album, ‘Southern Voice.’
His 2010 tour in support of that album was the year’s biggest country tour. “Felt Good On
My Lips,” from his double-CD „Number One Hits,’ spent three weeks at #1 earlier this year.
McGraw is also an accomplished actor, having starred in films such as the Oscar-nominated

2011 CMA Award Winners

Posted on 09 November 2011 by Bill West

See Who Wins 11/10 8pm

CountryMusic’s Biggest night lived up to the hype with a CMA Awards telecast that seemed to continue the evolutionof modern country.    The Band Perry has exploded onto the scene thanks to a young appeal and a cutting edge Single and Song of the year in “If I Die Young.”   There was a moving tribute to Glen Campbell, who revealed in June that he has Alzheimer’s disease. Brad Paisley, Keith Urban and Vince Gill will all saluted the famed guitarist and Country Music Hall of Fame member.

Other notable performances came from Scotty McCreery, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Sugarland, Martina McBride, Zac Brown Band, Faith Hill, and co-hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley.

Major winners include:

Entertainer of the Year:  Taylor Swift

Female Vocalist of the Year:  Miranda Lambert

Male Vocalist of the Year: Blake Shelton

New Artist of the Year: The Band Perry

Vocal Group of the Year:  Lady Antebellum

Vocal Duo of the Year: Sugarland

Single of the Year: “If I Die Young” – The Band Perry.

Album of the Year: “My Kinda Party” – Jason Aldean,

Music Video of the Year:  “You and Tequila” – Kenny Chesney f/ Grace Potter.

There is a clear evolution taking place… surprising that Kenny, Keith, Flatts and others seem to have been passed by with a new crew.

Four Times The Charm For Miranda

Posted on 06 November 2011 by editor

Lambert Enjoying The Spotlight

Miranda Lambert seems to be the youngest “veteran” in any genre of music.   Lambert cut her teeth with one of the first reality TV talent contests – “Nashville Star.”    She came in third behind a forgettable singer named Buddy Jewell, but there were a lot of fans and others that couldn’t forget Miranda.  That was 2003.  Flash forward to now and in the last year she has become one of the most celebrated women in country music.

Billboard Magazing recently called her “the coolest girl in country music,” and her press is better than ever.

Her new Album “Four The Record” is a blend of mainstram country meets Miranda alt-pop.  In fact a few tunes in the disc could work on pop radio despite her proud twang.  Her record label will have to get things pulled together (she’s bounced from Sony-owned to now defunct Epic and then Columbia Records).  She has just landed on the legendary RCA Nashville.

There’s a lot for country radio and fans to like here too.    Lambert has found her groove and her confidence is heard in songs like the lead single “Baggage Claim.”   (Did you realize those Hammond organ rund are performed by Steve Windwood?!- I didn’t either.)   New sounds for country music – but she pulls it off swiftly.  Er…  maybe Lambert-ly.

Fans who have been following Miranda will get into her new level of sass and some very modern production values.  The ensuing media blitz and round of awards will surely bring in some new followers too.

Despite 2009’s stellar performance of “Revolution” Taylor Swift may have had the most face time of the last few years but there’s a new 20-something blonde that’s ready to take the spotlight among the other hot country acts like Zac Brown and Lady A.  Four The Record is a Hit.

Overall Grade:  A

Don’t miss: The retro-yet-modern “Easy Living” and the edgy “Fine Tune” (time to try a pop crossover?)
