Ira Dean Goes Solo

No “one trick pony” Ira Dean – the wild and carzy third wheel from Trick Pony has signed on to go solo for Average Joe’s Entertainment.   Many have expected more to come from Heidi Newfieled the blonde beauty from the original trio buy nothing big has broke through for her and it looks like it’s Dean’s turn.

Dean offered a lot to the original group… Chart-topping songswritten by Dean such as “Pour Me,” and the Grammy nominated “Just What I Do,” established him as a brand new singer/songwriting force and studio musician in country music.

The trio won the American Music Awards’ “Top New Artist” and the Country Music Association’s “Artist of the Year” award and released three studio albums producing four top twenty singles on Billboard Hot Country. Their second CD, On A Mission, which Ira co-wrote seven cuts, brought in an additional five Academy of Country Music nominations including, “Album of the Year” and “Vocal Group of the Year.”

 

Ira departed Trick Pony almost five years ago and has written tunes for other artists including Joe Nichols, Chris Young, ex-band mate Heidi Newfield, Jake Owen, Gary Allan, and Montgomery Gentry, including their big hit “One In Every Crowd.” He also has the writing credits on the title track for Trace Adkins’ album due out August 2, Proud To Be Here.

Records release, Red River Blue as the largest selling album in the U.S.

The single is the fastest-selling digital Platinum single for a male country solo artist. Red River Blue is the highest digital percentage for Shelton with almost 30% of his album sales and marks his highest selling album debut to date.  This success also comes at a time when Blake is enjoying a new marriage to Miranda Lambert and TV success on The Voice.

Chris Young also hit with his third release last week with 70 some thousand copies.  Good for second in Country.

CMA Hosts Brad and Carrie Return

Hosts with The Hits

Country music’s hottest and most prolific songwriters have announced a return to hosting duties.

 

Arista Records artists Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood have signed on to act as The Country Music Association’s  affable hosts again in 2011.   The singers announced the date during the filming of their smash hit duet “Remind Me” from Brad Paisley’s Latest project “This is Country Music.”   Country Songs Online has a hunch they’ll be performing that one on the show too. The 45th Annual CMA Awards” airs live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Wednesday, Nov. 9 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Paisley and Underwood have received positive reviews for their hosting skills the past three years.

Taylor Swift Postpones Tour

Big news from a MAJOR TOUR.  Taylor Swift is postponing 3 more concert stops on her Speak Now Tour including Charlotte and Atlanta.  Last

With regret, the Taylor Swift concert dates scheduled for this weekend in Charlotte and Atlanta have been rescheduled due to illness. Taylor has bronchitis, and has been advised by her doctor that she is not well enough to perform this week.

Taylor plans to resume the tour on July 14th in Montreal.

 

The new dates are as follows:

Charlotte

July 8 rescheduled for November 16

Atlanta

July 9 & 10 rescheduled for October 1 & 2

It breaks my heart to miss out on this weekend’s shows with my friends in Charlotte and Atlanta,” Taylor says. “I would never cancel if I thought I was physically able to perform these shows. I am so sorry to the fans, but I look forward to seeing you when we come back through your towns, which we will do.”

Taylor is on tour in support of her multi-platinum SPEAK NOW album, and is currently slated to play 98 shows in 17 countries in 2011.

Dwight Yoakam Comeback

Multi-platinum GRAMMY winning singer-songwriter, actor, director and country music pioneerDwight Yoakam returns home to Warner Music Group after a decade. The legendary superstar began his career on Warner Music Group’s label Reprise Records, with his debut album, Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc. and has since recorded 27 albums under both the Reprise Records and Warner Bros. Records imprints. Yoakam is set to release his first studio album in seven years on Warner Bros. Records.

“Dwight Yoakam is country music. His voice is immediately recognizable and his artistry is iconic,” said John Esposito, Warner Music Nashville’s President & CEO. “When I heard his current music, I was blown away. I think that it is some of the best music he has ever done and I’m incredibly proud to have him back at Warner Bros. Records.”

Yoakam’s highly anticipated new record is set for an early 2012 release and is expected to be co-produced by Joe Chiccarelli (My Morning Jacket, The Shins, The Strokes) along with producer Yoakam, who has recently finished recording several tracks with musician Beck.
