Kenny LIVES a Little at Number One

Posted on 26 April 2011 by Bill West

Kenny Chesney, the superstar who has already topped 850,000 tickets on the biggest tour of the year, his 2011 Corona Presents Kenny Chesney’s “Goin’ Coastal” Tour, sold out his third night at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in a swift ten minutes on Friday, April 22. And today, the star has achieved another milestone, his 22nd #1 Country single with the anthemic hit “Live A Little” — the third #1 in a row from his Number 1 album ‘Hemingway’s Whiskey’ (BNA).

“I’m going to keep reminding people through music that you’ve got to love life, and you’ve got to live it, and you can’t work all the time,” says Kenny. “And I look at myself in the mirror and say that every single day. And I hope to think I’m getting a little better at it. You’ve got to ‘Live A Little!’”

The Red Rocks show marks the first time Kenny’s played the famed Colorado venue, and the first time in five years he’s performed at any venue more than twice on a tour.

For the recently-added show on July 8th, Kenny has invited Grace Potter to join the bill, a new friend who duets with him on “Me and Tequila” from ‘Hemingway’s Whiskey’ (BNA).

The only artist to sell One million tickets for 8 consecutive summers, Kenny Chesney and his “Goin’ Coastal” tour have drawn excited reviews for their fun-focused, summertime party vibe. The Dallas Morning News raved of the Cowboys Stadium encore with surprise guests and covers that, “had the roof been closed at the stadium, might have blown it open.” The Wichita Eagle wrote that Chesney “allowed fans to travel somewhere tropical even if it was just for a few hours.”

Frankie Ballard Releases 1st Album

Posted on 19 April 2011 by Bill West

Frankie Ballard is giving country fans a ‘buncha’ reasons why he is the “One to Watch For” in 2011. Few debut artists can compare to Ballard’s impetuous breakthrough in the country scene as the heartthrob, in just one year, has already scored a Top Five video hit with his debut single “Tell Me You Get Lonely,” toured with rock star Uncle Kracker, starred in his own GAC web series, wrote a song on Billy Currington’s new CD, issued “A Buncha Girls” as his second radio single and staged his debut at the Grand Ole Opry. And if that wasn’t enough, Ballard is gearing up for the release of his self-titled debut album on Warner Brothers, available everywhere beginning May 24, 2011.

Produced by Michael Knox (Jason Aldean), this singer-songwriter brings a bluesy, rocking edge to the country scene that resonates through all eight songs featured on his debut. His talents as a vocalist, songwriter, instrumentalist and showman have already made him one of the genre’s most memorable new personalities.

Hailing from Battle Creek, Michigan, Ballard brings a fresh new sound with his unique blend of edgy, country rock and sheer, fleet-fingered guitar skills. In 2008, Ballard won Kenny Chesney’s “Next Big Star” regional competition and opened for Chesney at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids and Ford Field in Detroit.

Colt Ford Tour and Every Chance CD

Posted on 15 April 2011 by Bill West

Colt Ford Album

Every Chance I Get

It’s no secret that Average Joe’s Entertainment’s Colt Ford is the epitome of the fan-driven revolution of the traditional music industry. In just three years, he is nearing double-platinum digital single sales, has reached over 500,000 in album sales, performed over 500 dates, and garnered his first Academy of Country Music Awards nomination for Vocal Event of The Year for single “Cold Beer” (feat. Jamey Johnson). Showing no signs of slowing down in 2011, the grassroots country phenomenon will release his third studio album, Every Chance I Get, to digital realms and stores nationwide on May 3, 2011.

The album’s debut radio single and opening track, “Country Thang,” features co-writer and Billboard #1 Songwriter of 2010 Dallas Davidson on vocals as well as a special album-only version with Eric Churchas guest vocalist. Written by Ford and the so-called “Peach Pickers” of Music Row– Davidson, Rhett Akins, and Ben Hayslip, the release is Ford’s fastest rising radio single on the Country Billboard andMediabase charts. On April 22, the music video for the song will debut worldwide on CMT andCMT.com during their Big New Music Weekend.

Every Chance I Get was produced by Shannon HouchinsJayson Chance and Phivestarr Productions – Houchins and Chance also partnered with Ford for his 2010 Top 10 release, Chicken And Biscuits—and will feature guest vocals from Tim McGrawEric ChurchLuke BryanCharlie DanielsJosh Thompson, and more (full track listing below).

As a songwriter, Ford is most proud of the album’s song “She Likes To Ride In Trucks” which he wrote and included for his 16 year-old daughter, Annesly.

“I wrote this song for my daughter. She’s 16, coming of age, and I’m not the man in her life anymore, her boyfriend is. She wants to do her own thing, chase her own dreams, and she doesn’t need me as much as she used to. Whenever I do this song live, it’ll choke me up. It’s about real life, and real life is hard sometimes,” said Ford.

Ford also co-wrote “Work It Out,” “Waste Some Time,” “This Is Our Song,” “What I Call Home,” “Overworked and Underpaid,” and album stand-out, “Twisted” (feat. Tim McGraw).

Performing over 200 shows in both 2009 and 2010 on tour with Jason AldeanHank Williams Jr., as well as headlining his own theater and club dates, Ford will likely top that number in 2011 in support of his new album.

ACM 2011 Winners – Taylor Gets Entertainer Award

Posted on 03 April 2011 by editor

A big suprise for Taylor Swift who has just returned from an overseas Taylor tour to come home to her first Entertainer of the Year Win (Swift has won the 2009 CMA’s version of the trophy).

The award marks another year of new faces in different categories with some suprise appearancesfrom Miranda Lambert.

It could have been anyone’s game in the Male Vocalist category but a satisfying Brad Paisley took home the trophy.  No Chesney or Strait even inthe audience this year (not suprising since Chesney’s outspoken criticism of the fan voting mechanic in the past).
